These are very beautiful outdoor lights. These can be placed anywhere as long as the solar panels can receive sun light. I hung these on both sides of my porch steps and they are bright enough that I can see all the way up them. They do put off a white colored light but it is more soft white. I have found that it does take quite some time to charge and if its Cloudy of raining that day, these probably won't turn on or if they do it won't last as long as if it is sunny. I did notice that these don't seem to turn off unless they are "dead". Overall, they are pretty and work nicely if they can have full sun most of the day.
